Today we saw the Three Gorges and took a sampan boat into a tributary called the Goddess Stream. It was named after a rock at the top of the cliff that resembles a goddess, watching over everyone. The scenery was magnificent - a narrow channel with soaring vertical cliffs and craggy peaks. The vegetation was lush as well - lots of moss, trees and bamboo. We were so lucky to have a sunny day, as apparently it's usually misty and rainy here. In fact, we haven't had any rain on this trip so far! We also saw some caves on the mountains that contain warrior coffins. This afternoon we saw a presentation about the Three Gorges Dam, which we'll be seeing tomorrow, a Chinese painting demonstration, a Majhong lesson, and a short film about the building of the Three Gorges Dam ship locks, which we will pass thorough in the night.
