Saw the ruins at Corfe Castle. There's a village below it which looked quite old as well. Apparently the castle and the village housed commoners rather than royalty. It existed 1,000 years ago but was partly demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. Situated on a cliff, the castle ruins gave us a great view of the countryside.
From there we drove to Lulworth Cove to walk out to Durdle Door, a picturesque stone doorway in the ocean. There are also chalky cliffs and a beautiful cove and beach area that was very popular despite the long walk down to access it. Some people were kayaking and sailing, and large motorboats would take you along the shore too. It was neat watching the kayakers go through the split in the rocks. We envisioned a cliff walk to be fairly flat once having climbed the cliff, but sadly it was not. It was a very hot day for such a walk, and we didn't see many people our age attempting it - mostly young people heading down to the beach area.Still, the view out overlooking the sea and Durdle Door was worth it.
